Best featureMy new Ford Ranger looks just great. It is very stylish and sleek for a car of its dimensions. Mine is a single cab version and it is a great car for work especially due to its high durability and high ground clearance. The driving position is easily adjustable and this gives me the chance to achieve a great view of all angles, even though the car is huge. This size also means that I feel unconquerable behind the wheel. The interior looks clean and easy to use, but it is still comfortable and stylish enough. Loading is also very easy. The tailgate opens flat and four hooks on the inside of the loading space allow you to tighten the load and keep it firmly in place. There is also a power socket in the load area, which I think is a great feature. It allows me to connect a light and see what I am loading at night, or even to load a machine at the back and keep it powered at all times. Can you imagine how great a fridge is for a picnic? Simply load it in the back, connect it to the socket, and enjoy cold drinks anywhere. I have a 2.2l diesel and it is not very fast, but speed is not its main function. It pulls weight rather easily and provides amazing fuel consumption which rarely goes over 10l/100km, even in very hard driving conditions and with heavy loads. On an open road cruise it goes well under 7.5l/100km.
If you are in need of a proper working vehicle, the Ford Ranger is the best choice, with just several downsides I have come across. The first one is the noise level at higher speeds. All of the sounds come together – the heavy diesel grunt, large tires and wind noise all add up to create a pretty loud highway ride.
The second grudge is the one that really bothers me, even though it is not a major problem in its own right. I am talking about the quality of some plastic components in the interior. They feel and look rather cheap and I think they should be better, especially having in mind that they are not a big investment and that Ford made a nearly perfect pick-up truck other than that.
