Best featureWhen I first saw the CRV, I fell in love with it. It is a large and practical SUV with plenty of features designed to make driving and travelling a pleasure. This is why I decided to spend a little more money and get the top model so that I could enjoy the car like even more. Five-speed automatic gearbox is connected to the 2.4 l petrol engine which produces 185 HP, making the CRV a reasonably potent machine. The fastest I have driven it is about 150 km/h during a highway cruise. This lasted for about an hour and it seemed to put no strain on the car. Really nice and refined driving. Additionally, the fuel consumption is pretty good as well. In the city it is between 11 and 12 liters per 100 km, while out of the city it is about 8 l per 100 km with the average being around 10. The Honda CRV has the highest safety ratings. The design of the exterior shows a massive car which looks great on the road. However, at least in my opinion, it doesn’t look bulky and clumsy due to its size, but rather elegant. I love the large three-striped grille at the front which looks great paired with modernly designed headlights. The interior is just perfect for me. The driving position is very high, so navigation and parking are not difficult even though the car is huge. There are two screens which means that you can use satellite navigation while you are also reading other information you might need. I’m not sure if any other car in this price range has two screens. The interior is very practical with loads of storing spaces wherever you look. Another pleasant surprise came with the view of the rear seats. Legroom is just amazing even when the front seats are pulled back completely. The boot is also very large with the volume of 589 l. However, if you fold rear seats you get massive 1700 liters of space. Moreover, this folding is performed quickly and very easily.
I have had the chance to try a friend’s CRV diesel and it actually drives better. It pulls from lower RPMs with ease and lets you go easy on the throttle pedal. This also gives better fuel efficiency. My car is faster than the diesel, but I think that the diesel is a better option for an everyday ride.
The gearbox works like a charm, but I think that five gears are not enough for high-speed driving. At 150 kilometers an hour the car gets noisy and the fuel consumption increases. So, a sixth gear would have been great.
The load space light is placed on the roof which means that, with the load shelf extended, you will not be able to see the inside of your boot in the dark.
