Who are Indwe Risk Services?
Indwe Risk Services was created in 2006, following a merger between Thebe Risk Services and Prestasi Brokers. Today, they are owned by Indwe Broker Holdings Ltd. According to their website, these two merging companies have a long history in the insurance business. Today, Indwe is an independent brokerage firm, which works closely with all registered insurers in South Africa. As such, their goal is to put together an insurance policy or plan for their customers based on their specific needs, be it for personal or commercial purposes. Giel Muller is the current CEO of Indwe Risk Services.

What services does Indwe Risk Services offer?
As mentioned, Indwe Risk Services is an independent brokerage firm. This means that their job is not to sell you a particular insurance plan that they are marketing, but to assess your particular needs as a potential customer and tailor make an insurance plan that will fit. In order to do this, Indwe relies on their relationship with many of the major insurers in South Africa and offers both personal and business insurance, as well as consulting services. Their personal insurance options include car insurance and home insurance. In terms of car insurance specifically, there are three basic groups or types of coverage. These are: comprehensive car insurance, third party car insurance, fire and theft insurance and third party only.
Comprehensive car insurance: This provides the widest coverage (as its name suggests), including accidental damage, fire, theft, and third party liability – whether to a vehicle, person or property.
Third party, fire and theft insurance: This coverage takes care of any third party damage, as well as fire and theft to your vehicle. Accidental damage is not covered.
Third party only: This coverage is only for third party liability as a result of an accident on your part.
In addition to the above types of coverage, there are also numerous benefits that you are eligible for when signing up for vehicle insurance with Indwe Risk Services, such as car hire, emergency medical and trauma treatment coverage, emergency repair benefits, and emergency accommodations if traveling.
How user-friendly is the Indwe Risk Services website?
Indwe Risk Services presents a good website. From initially opening their homepage to navigating the menus that are of interest to you, the set up and information is clear and concise which makes it easy and pleasant to search the website as a potential customer. Furthermore, the fact they have clearly emphasized the buttons that we as consumers will need most (the “get a quote” button and the “make a claim” button), shows that whilst designing the website they had the consumer in mind. Also, the website clearly shows that although they are a brokerage firm, they provide nice overviews of insurance options, particularly with the car insurance. Overall, we were impressed with the Indwe Risk Services website and give them our thumbs up!
How to file a claim with Indwe Risk Services?
Filing a claim with Indwe Risk Services seems very easy. All you need to do is go to their home page, and there you will find a big white button (right side in the top image) that says “Make a Claim”. Once you click that button, a small form should pop-up. You leave your details and one of their brokers will get back to you. Alternatively, Indwe Risk Service’s general phone number is listed at the top of each of their webpages.
What are the customer reviews of Indwe Risk Services?
In reviewing Indwe Risk Services on hellopeter, they received 145 reports over the past 12 months. Of those reports, only 19% were compliments, while 81% were complaints. That is a ratio of 4 complaints to every 1 compliment which is a significantly higher percentage of complaints compared to almost all the other insurance companies that we compared in our other reviews (see link to other reviews in opening paragraph). By looking at the nature of the complaints, we noticed that they received a high percentage of complaints in the “feedback/response” category. This seems to indicate that Indwe Risk Services could improve in this area. On the up side, we took note that several of the compliments were initially complaints, but those customers felt the response from the company was positive, resulting in them changing their report. In Indwe’s defense, this reflects their desire to have their customers have a positive experience (although it’s unclear why they should have to complain in order to get a positive response in the first place). However, in contrast, there were a number of reports that never received a response at all. Looking at all the reports, it seems that Indwe Risk Services definitely has room to improve on its customer feedback. What good would it be if they have a great website that allows you to contact them, only for them never to respond?
Indwe Risk Services is a relatively new brokerage company (2006) that provides a range of personal and business insurance services. While they present a clear and helpful website, the reviews on hellopeter don’t look promising in regards to their customer service. If they could improve on their feedback, it would go well with their website and create an overall better customer feeling about them. Based on the above information, we can’t give our overall thumbs up with full confidence, and therefore advise checking additional insurance companies and quotes before making your final decision. Also, don’t forget to be sure you understand the basic car insurance terms, so that you know exactly what you are getting (whichever company you use) even if this does take a few more minutes of your time.
