Who is Virseker?
Virseker, a product of the Auto and General insurance company (which is part of the Telesure group), provides short-term insurance needs specifically for the Afrikaans community. Additionally, their website states that a portion of customers’ premiums go to the Virseker Trust, a trust that supports many educational causes of the Afrikaans community. The directors of Auto and General are L. Entertainment (CEO) and TJ Creamer (managing director).

Virseker is located at Investment Park, 2nd Rd 10Str, Hyde Park, Sandton, Gauteng.
What services does Virseker offer?
Virseker offers the full range of short term insurance products, including building insurance, car insurance and home insurance. In regards to car insurance, Virseker offers the three standard types of car insurance coverage: comprehensive car insurance, third party, fire and theft car insurance and third party only.
Third party, fire and theft car insurance: damage to your vehicle due to fire and theft, but not due to an accident that you caused. You are also covered for damage to a third party.
Third party only: cover for damages to a third party’s property.
Comprehensive car insurance: damage caused to your own vehicle as a result of an accident, fire, theft, as well as damages you may cause another person’s property.

- Trauma assistance;
- Home assistance;
- Legal assistance;
- Medical assistance;
- Roadside assistance.
How user-friendly is the Virseker website?
The Virseker website is written in Afrikaans, because that is the population they are targeting. After translating it into English (for those of us who don’t speak Afrikaans well enough – thank you Google), the website initially looks helpful and easy to navigate and has a clear and logical layout. Although easy to navigate, the information itself is a bit lacking. Thus for example, not much information was offered on the company’s history – something that we personally find important and always advise reading (when push comes to shove, you want to know who exactly is giving you insurance and whether they have a strong enough financial backing). Additionally, we were unable to find an address or location for Virseker on their website. After searching through google, we were able to locate an address. There was a general description regarding the car insurance types and if you speak Afrikaans, you should find just enough information to make your decision. However, if you intend to rely on a translated version of the website, a lot of it might not make much sense – just like their commercials in which English speakers don’t understand Afrikaans speaking people (see commercial here below)
How to file a claim with Virseker:
When you open the Virseker home page, there is a link on the top right corner of the page that says “submit a claim.” If you click on that link, you are directed to enter your name and password to log into your account. Once you do that, you can electronically submit a claim. Alternatively, you can contact their claims department at 0860 08 60 97.
What are the customer reviews of Virseker?
Over the past year, Virseker received 98 reports of feedback through hellopeter. Of those reports, 71% of them were compliments and 29% were complaints. That’s over double the amount of compliments than complaints. In looking at the nature of the complaints, no particular category stands out more than the rest. So according to most of their customers, it seems that Virseker is doing something right – whether this is because they truly are providing a good level of service, or because their customers have a sense of community we cannot tell.
Summary
Virseker is a short-term insurance product belonging to Auto and General that targets the Afrikaans community. They do this specifically by offering all of their services in Afrikaans (including their T.V. commercials). Although their website was a little challenging to understand due to us translating it into English, the customer reviews of Virseker provide a picture of a number of satisfied customers. So, if Afrikaans is the language and community for you, Virseker may well be worth looking into further. Either way, we always suggest the following 3 steps:
1. Read our post on how to save on car insurance;
2. read 2-3 reviews about other insurance companies that are of interest to you OR read our research about “Are you using the best insurance company in South Africa?;
3. Get Free online car insurance quotes (click here to get One quote or here to get up to 9 quotes).
