WesBank offers a range of financial and insurance options for both personal and commercial purposes. For individuals, their services include primarily personal and vehicle insurance.
WesBank Car Insurance
Unlike many other insurance companies, WesBank Car Insurance only offers comprehensive car insurance (no third party insurance, fire and theft insurance or third party only). Their comprehensive coverage includes any damage or total loss caused to your car by accident, fire, theft or third party liability.
In addition to WesBank’s Comprehensive Car Insurance, they offer several other added value types of coverage. These include:
- Cover plus – should your car be written off or stolen, the amount your insurance company pays you may not be enough to cover what is still owed on the car. This policy covers the difference.
- Return to invoice – this policy is a form of protection against vehicle depreciation. You will be covered for the difference between the original price you paid for your vehicle and its insured value.
- SMART – this policy covers small vehicle maintenance, such as minor dents and scratches.
- CourtesyCar – in the event your car is stolen, written off, in the shop for repairs or servicing, you will be covered for a courtesy car.
How user-friendly is the WesBank and WesBank Car Insurance website?
Although the Wesbank Insurance website looks fairly up to date and was easy to navigate, we felt it came up short in regards to the information offered – which was clear but limited. This was true regarding the company’s history to some degree, but especially so regarding the various WesBank Car Insurance options. There was almost no information regarding the particulars of their coverage and it was difficult to understand what was being offered. Also, the additional policies/features from which customers can choose from (see above) are often benefits that one receives from other insurance companies just by taking out the “regular” comprehensive vehicle insurance policy. Overall, after searching the WesBank Insurance website, we were left wondering and wanting more as a potential customer.
Filing a claim with WesBank Car Insurance
It was unclear from our research exactly how to file a claim with WesBank Car Insurance. However, on the WesBank Insurance website, there is a place to click on My Account, which allows one to access online services. Although it is not stated explicitly, that would be the most likely way to file a claim. It would be nice if this basic service was made more easily accessible.
What are the customer reviews of WesBank Insurance?
Over the past 12 months, WesBank Insurance received 660 feedback reports on hellopeter.com. Of those, only 17% were compliments, while 83% were complaints! That’s more than 4 times the amount of complaints than compliments. In looking at the nature of the complaints, “billing/accounts” section received a significantly higher percentage of complaints than others. This would imply that WesBank Insurance might do well to improve in this area of service. Additionally, while many of the feedback reports received a response from the company, the complaints filed over the past month have not received any feedback at all. This high complaint ratio would make a potential customer think twice before using their services.
So, what’s the story with WesBank Car Insurance?
WesBank Insurance has been around for about 40 years. This is something worth mentioning, because in one of their youtube commercials, they claim that “practice makes perfect” and that they have been around for 40 years – implying that they have had a lot of time to practice and therefore – become perfect…But based on the reports/complaints they received on Hellopeter, it seems only natural to respond to that commercial with: “maybe they should keep practicing”. Also, in attempting to review their car insurance policy on their website, we found this “challenging” due to the limited amount of information. Based on the above, we are unable to give Wesbank Insurance the thumbs up, and advise the following:
